Setting: ADO 273, shortly after Graham is brought back
Winnie had thought she would never get the chance to apologize to the former sheriff, since he had passed away while they were all still cursed, in the midst of Freddie’s self destructive path. At the time, she had been Freddie Valentine and, as horrific as it was to her now, she hadn’t cared much, hadn’t had the heart or the awareness of the world to care about the passing of someone she knew. Certainly, they could have been considered enemies, as she was constantly in trouble and he was constantly arresting her, but even if Winnie had enemies, she would still care about their passing, as that was simply the type of person she was. Freddie had been very different and it had led to many hurtful realizations for Winnie.
She was certainly pleased now to hear he had been revived, even though the only memories she had of him were though from where they were cursed. She had never met him before they arrived in Storybrooke, which was a shame for he would not know the type of person she actually was but only the destructive, harsh woman of Freddie Valentine. Now that he was back she had the opportunity to apologize to the man who had probably been the most affected by her actions as Freddie. Now that she could, Winnie was going to make amends with him and that’s why she had decided to visit the Sheriff’s station.
”Destruction of property?” she asked with a laugh, threading her arms to rest on the bars of her jail cell. “I think if you asked most people, they would say it’s an improvement. A little booze could loosen up our dear Madam le Mayor.” She leaned back, gripping the bars in her hands to keep her from falling. “Since when have you ever known me to be cooperative, Sheriff?”
She had been in this station hundreds of time, she was sure, though Winnie didn’t remember them all. Freddie had been drunk or otherwise intoxicated on many of the occasions, but even then there were simply too many to remember each one specifically. Some stood out more than others, of course. None of the crimes were particularly violent- petty theft, trespassing, public disturbance- but the frequency of them would have meant more than one night in jail. She thought now that if she had committed such crimes in the Enchanted Forest, the consequences would have been much more severe.
Her hair was in a medium length bob, with the tips of her hair dyes pink for this week, unkempt and messy. Dark smeared make up lined her eyes. She stood in front of the camera with her hip cocked to one side, one hand resting on the other, giving the camera as much attitude and carelessness as she could muster. Her dark sweater hung off her shoulders. Just as the camera clicked to take her picture, she showed the lens her middle finger.
Now, she stood, dressed in a modest green dress with dark black heels and minimal makeup. Her long blonde and pinkless hair was tied back in a ponytail, exuding a prim and proper appearance, though the nervous smiled made it clear she wasn’t completely put together. Winnie heard the tap of footsteps behind her and she swallowed nervously before turning quickly, her hair flying in an arc over her shoulder and her dress spinning at her knees, basket full of baked goods she had brought swinging into view. There seemed to be little similarities between this young woman and the tragic girl she had been cursed to be. “Sheriff,” she spoke tentatively as she turned to face him. The address might not be completely accurate anymore, but she owed him some respect now that she was one who could appreciate him and the service he had provided. A small, shy smile appeared on her face. “My name is Winnie, but you might remember me as Freddie Valentine.” It would be nearly impossible for him to have forgotten her without some kind of potion because this had been practically a second home for her. It wouldn’t be that easy for Winnie.
