There was bright white light in castle courtyard, lighting up the darkness better than even the torches did, the air was tinged with the strength of magic, someone of very powerful origins had arrived in the courtyard. Tonight was a dark star lit night, there was a silence in the air and most people were asleep in bed. The air was cold and well there were fires burning the distance as if Camelot had been attacked very recently, which in fact it had, the silence itself was deafening as if the whole castle was drawing breath waiting for something, anything to happen. They might also be tending to the wounded soldiers in the infirmary.
Arthur was away at the moment on business in a different kingdom, so it had been up to Merlin to sort out of the attack that had happened and chase them off. He wasn't particularly happy about it considering who it was who had attacked, it was Morgraine, his former apprentice, who had twisted white magic and started studying a darker form of it. Merlin was angered and hurt greatly by his best pupils attacks on the kingdom. He had known her since she was a young girl, but she did not seem to care, she seemed to grave only power.
Appearing in a white light Merlin appeared his cloak on fire from the magic duel he had, had in the forests of Camelot, he had chased Morgraine and well the magical duel had been a very big one, a huge dramatic show some people would call it, if anyone from the castle had watched the forest they would of seen lots of lights. Merlin sighed and ripped of the cloak throwing it the floor and was about to call up his staff once more when he noticed someone sitting in the courtyard watching him. A flash of amusement flickered on his face when he saw his 13 year old son there, "I see you knew I would be here," he said gently not at all angry that his son was up when he was supposed to be asleep. He quickly healed any cuts he had. "I take it your mother doesn't know your here?" He asked carefully not wanting to upset the boy, he walked closer.
