Neal was still in shock from the news that he had an 11 year old son, but, he decided to go back with Emma and his father in order to get to know his son. Neal followed as the rest of them headed onto Hook's ship, it's been a while, but, he still remembered how to sail this thing. Neal decided to teach Henry how to sail it, the same way Hook taught him.
Neal walked over to his son Henry and sat down next to him, Neal had missed 11 years of his son's life and he was planning to make up for it. Neal looked around the boat, as he saw Emma and his father Rumpelstiltskin sit on other areas of the boat. Neal looked back at his son and smiled placing his hand around his son's shoulder. "So, Henry" Neal said, looking at the steering wheel and then back at everyone else on the boat. "Do you want to learn how to sail this thing?" Neal asked, smiling at Henry.

Henry was upset with Emma, which was one of the reasons he had purposefully sat as far away as he could from her, she had lied to him, lied just like Regina would, lie to him all the time. He had though Emma was different, that she was hero, a god person, but she had lied to him. Heroes don't lie, no they tell the truth, they help people, but it turned out Emma was just like Regina, lying to him. She had told him his dad was a fireman, that he was dead, he had gone out a hero, but it wasn't true it was just a lie because Emma didn't think he would be able to handle the truth, he was sure he would of been able to. After all he knew how and where he was born and he took that well, he had liked the fact he knew how. No his dad was alive and well, not only that but he was Bealfire Mr Gold son, which was just awesome he was Gold's grandson.
Henry wanted to get to know his dad, know everything about him, he knew bits from the book but he wanted to know what happened after, and what it was like growing up in the Enchanted Forest. He also wanted do lots of cool stuff with him that sons and their dads did, maybe he'd teach him how to sword fight like gramp's was.
Henry looked over at his dad as he sat down next to him and gave him a grin happy that his dad wanted to spend time with him and didn't want to leave him, he was actually coming to Storybrooke with them, that was awesome! He could show his dad around, show him everything there was and he could meet gramp's, gram's and Archie, he was sure he'd love Archie. He smiled softly and gave his dad his full attention as he spoke, his eyes widening as his dad asked if he wanted to learn how to sail the ship. "Really?" Henry questioned excitedly "You'll teach me?" he asked grinning now, "yes please."

Neal smiled and patted his son on the shoulder, "Of course buddy" Neal said. Neal remembered everything that Hook had taught him about sailing his boat all those years ago. He hadn't actually been on this boat since then, but, it looked exactly the same.
Neal looked back at Henry and smiled "Come on buddy" Neal said to Henry before heading over to the wheel. Those memories of his life with Hook suddenly filled his head as he stood there at the wheel looking out onto the ocean.

"Awesome!" Henry exclaimed now even more excited and found himself looking over at where Emma was sat for a moment as if he was waiting to see what she would say, but he didn't need her to say anything, he was still upset with her he didn't want to speak to her not after she had lied to him about something this big, like Regina had. "Who taught you?" Henry asked curiously unsure of how his dad actually knew how to sail a pirate ship, had he been a pirate at one point? If he had that would be awesome, well as long as he hadn't hurt people, he didn't like the idea of hurting people and taking their treasures. He looked at his dad wondering what his answer would be about who taught him and where he had been to be taught it.
"Coming dad," Henry said running over to him and the wheel and looking around at the ship, just now really noticing how big it was and wondering how it was going to be captained by only two people without a crew, how did Hook get it here ? "Don't we need more people to work the ship?" he questioned maybe they didn't, maybe you only needed to know how to sail and you should be fine.

Neal looked back at his son as he asked who taught him. He wasn't sure whether he would want to know the truth, but, assumed that he was sick of being lied to and decided to tell him the truth. "Honestly buddy" Neal said, smiling at his son "Hook taught me. Right here on this boat actually."
Neal stepped aside as Henry came running up to the wheel of the boat. Neal smiled as he saw that his son was extremely excited about getting taught to sail the Jolly Roger. Hook taught him how to sail with just two people and now it was his turn to pass on the knowledge. "No you don't son. When Hook taught me it was just me and him at the wheel. So it's pretty easy to steer with just two people." Neal smiled at his son as he stood there, looking around the Jolly Roger.

Henry grinned happily as his ad told him the truth and not a lie, like Emma or most of the adults in his life seem to do, both Emma and Regina had done it to him, but it looked like his dad wasn't going to do that at all, which was awesome! His eyes widened though as he mentioned who had really taught him, Hook? Did that mean his ad had been a pirate. "Hook taught you? You mean you were part of his crew?" Henry asked his eyes burning with questions all sorts of different questions to do with how his father had come to be on Hooks ship. "Were you a pirate?" He asked, he knew he wouldn't think any less of him, if he were in a way it be really cool.
Henry watched his dad looking up at him and listening to him carefully, he was eager to learn how to sail the ship from his dad so he just listened to his responses and he was pretty sure he would listen to every single instruction that was given to him by his dad. He didn't want to end up sinking them all on their first try now that would not be a good idea, they would never get back then. "So we just need the two of us" Henry states smiling happily excited that it would be just him and his dad. He stood in front of wheel before looking back up at his dad "so what do I do Dad?"

Neal smiled as his son asked him about his life with Hook, he was glad that he was impressed. Neal looked at Henry and answered his questions "Well, Henry before I ended up on the island The Shadow actually dropped me on this boat." Neal looked around the boat and continued "I was never an official part of his crew, no, but I did learn some stuff about the life of a pirate."
Neal looked down as Henry looked up at him, "Yeah that's right" Neal said, putting his arm around him before smiling back at his son "Alright, so" Neal said, placing his hands on top of Henry's "We want to start by turning it to the left to make it so that the boat will begin to head out to sea." Neal kept his hands with Henry's as he began to turn the wheel.

"Shadow?" Henry questioned having listened to his dad's story, he was rather curious about what this shadow was, it sounded like something bad something evil, "what's the shadow does it belong to something evil?" He asked him having guessed that it must do, it just didn't seem like calling something the shadow would be a good thing. He looked up at his dad waiting for him to explain, before asking a few more questions. "Did you meet Peter Pan while you where with Hook?" He wanted to know all about Pan, he was awesome in the fairy tale's and sadly he wasn't in the book so he didn't know a thing about the real one.
Henry snuggled into his dad's arm a bit feeling a lot warmer once he did and ready to sail the ship, he couldn't wait, he believed he would be able to do it and not crash it, Henry turned the wheel lightly as his dad helped guide him he focused on the wheel making sure he did it right and he didn't run into anything. "I'm doing it!" Henry shouted out grinning as the boat started turning at his command toward the sea.

Neal kept a serious look on his face as Henry asked about the Shadow. "Henry, the Shadow is not a good thing. It belongs to Pan and it's the thing that carries people to Neverland." Neal was glad that Henry was curious, but, decided to answer his questions "Honestly I didn't meet Pan until long after I left Hook's ship and was on the island." Neal wasn't sure whether he should tell Henry who Pan really was.
Neal smiled as the ship set sail "Yeah, you're doing a great job Henry" Neal said, laughing at his son's excitement to become a ship captain for a while, Neal looked down at Henry as he moved closer to him, cuddling up next to him. "Alright now we keep it straight to allow us to stay on track." Neal smiled as the two of them stood by the wheel and continued to sail back to Storybrooke.

Henry noticed the serious look that was on his dad's face as soon as he mentioned the shadow, about how he didn't really seem to want to talk about it in a way, it confirmed what he had thought a moment ago ,about this shadow not being a good entity, that it was something that was dangerous and evil. It was even more confirmed when his dad told him the truth. "You mean it kidnaps children......... for Pan?" Henry questioned having realized slightly what his dad meant by people. He frowned a moment did this mean Pan was actually not a good guy as well He looked back up at his dad a burning question in his eyes.
"Thanks dad," Henry smiled looking up at him with a grin on his face before looking back at where they were going, not wanting to end the trip by crashing into anything and drowning.Henry smiled as they were close enough to each other, and felt warm cuddling up to his dad, he was loving sailing a ship it was awesome, he felt like a pirate, he turned the wheel straight again to make sure they were on tack. "This is easy, I don't know why people say it's so hard." Henry said confident he was doing well, and he did really think this was easy, he was not having any problems, well yet.

Neal kept a serious look on his face as Henry asked about the Shadow taking kids. "That's right Henry. Do not trust that Shadow." Neal sighed and looked back at Henry "The truth is if I hadn't landed on this ship, that's what would've taken me to the island." Neal wasn't sure if his son could handle all of this information, but, at least he knew the truth.
Neal smiled as his son made his comments about sailing. "You know Henry, that's the exact same attitude I had when Hook taught me to sail." Neal could see similarities between him and his son, even if he only knew him for this short a time. "It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Although, you need to be careful, if the seas get rough it can be hard" Neal said, as he gave his son a hug as the boat continued to head to Storybrooke.

The Serious look that was on his dad's face was now mirrored on that of Henry's having realized that this topic was not a good one, but the boy wanted to know the whole truth he could take the information, he was sure of it he had taken in the information about who his adopted mother was and he'd survived that hadn't he? So Henry believed he could take the truth no matter what it was, so he felt he needed to know. "Does that mean Peter Pan's actually evil and not a hero?" He asked looking up at his dad again, "you can tell me dad, I can handle the truth, what's Neverland really like?" He gave him a pleading look, ready to know.
"Really? That's awesome" Henry explained, excited to be compared to his father when he was younger, he had read about that story it was in the book and well he felt that Bae his dad was an awesome person, and had actually wanted to be like him, now he really was and he was his son, how awesome was that. "I'll make sure to be careful, you just follow the stars right ?" He asked looking back up at him again before adding, "second start to the right and straight on until morning, is what they say in the tale." Henry looked on straight a head making sure to get what he was doing right.

Neal looked down at his son "Yes, Pan is evil. Whatever you read in books is wrong. Pan is no good guy" Neal knelt down so that he was at equal level with Henry. "Listen Henry." Neal said, holding onto his son's shoulders "Neverland is a dark place, son, a dark place. Nearly everyone who goes there turns evil." Neal stared at his son before standing up again.
Neal smiled again, as Henry was glad that he wanted to be like him. Neal never knew that feeling, as his father became the Dark One when he was quite young, so he never knew that feeling of having someone to look up too, at the beginning he had it with Hook, until he found out he was just like his father. Neal looked down at his son "Yep that's right son. Follow the stars" Neal was happy his son was anxious to learn about the life he once had. "Well, unlike what the book says about Pan. That part is true." Neal smiled and continued to help his son steer the boat.

Henry wasn't all that surprised that he found out that the story of Pan was much different from the reality, after all every fairytale ever written seemed to be incredibly different from the reality of it all. He was living with fairytale character's it was all not very surprising any more on that one. yet it still was sad that one of the best stories about a hero, the hero wasn't really a good guy at all, Pan was a villain, he had hoped slightly that he would be a Hero but that seemed not to be. "Nearly everyone, but not you," Henry said with a smile, " thank you for telling me the truth dad, do you know why Pan's a villain?" He questioned just wanting to see what his dad knew and about what happened in Neverland for him, "what was it like for you in Neverland, did Pan try hurt you?"Henry went quite for a bit as he concentrated on steering the boat, he wanted to make sure he was doing it right, and with his dad guiding his hand he was sure he would not get it wrong, his dad would teach him until he was excellent at it he was sure of that. He looked up at him again for a few moment's before looking back at Mr Gold. "Will you forgive him?" He really thought his dad should forgive Mr Gold, " he's really sorry for what he did," he added . "That's right Henry" Neal said, staring out into space. Neal looked down at his son "I wish I could tell you buddy, but, I don't know" Neal said smiling. Neal looked at his son as he began to wonder how to describe Neverland "Well Henry, Neverland was an adventure that honestly, I'm glad I had. Even if the island was dark, especially the people on it" Neal continued to smile at Henry, as he thought about his clashes with Pan. "Actually Henry he didn't, but, that's mainly because I stayed out of the way most of the time." Neal was glad that he could share this information with his son.
Neal continued to help Henry guide the boat, he stopped and looked back at his dad when Henry asked his next question. Honestly, he wasn't sure, when he was 14 his father chose his power, magic and dagger over him. Neal looked at Henry and smiled "Honestly Henry, I'm working on it." Neal said, this wasn't a lie, he was going to try and work on it. Neal looked back at the sea and kept his hands on the wheel with his son's underneath his.
