"Good-bye, Belle." The kind smile that found it's way on the warrior's lips would have surprised most people who knew her. Especially the fact that such a smile was towards nearly a complete stranger. But Belle had become a friend, and her departure was saddening to Mulan. Nevertheless she knew Belle had things she needed to attend to, and she herself had a new companion. Brown eyes shifted to the man who stood beside her just as Belle's form had disappeared into the forest. The former Yaoguai. Though he was certainly no beast now, she still felt somewhat weary of him. She eyed him carefully before she let a smile slip across her lips. "I'm Mulan." She stated her introduction then turned back to her campfire. She strapped her sword back to her side before she began gathered the small bit of supplies she had. Once finished she turned back to face him. Mulan sighed, "we should get moving before an infection sets in." The thought of such an infection made her visibly cringe.
Mulan looked back at the path Belle had left on, then glanced back to Philip. "There's a village a few miles," she lifted her arm, pointing towards the path, "that way." Though it would have been much easier to go to her village where Belle had helped Philip, Mulan had no plans to return home, and so she would risk infection to seek treatment elsewhere. "We should be able to find at least one doctor there." In this day and age every village had at least one medicine man even the smaller ones. Mulan turned back to the fire and snatched up her helmet which had until now been sitting on the log she had been resting on when Belle and Philip arrived. She quickly brushed her long hair back, then placed the helmet over head. She adjusted it briefly then looked back at her new companion. With everything set and ready to go, Mulan kicked dirt onto the fire then carefully made her way towards the path. Her leg felt as if it were in fire -- which, of course, was never a good sign. With a heavy sigh, she ignored it, and slowly moved along the trail. Her walk a limp of some sort as she found it hard to fully lift her right leg. It also did not help that she was weighed down by a quiver full of arrows, her bow which was wrapped across her torso and shoulder, head-to-toe armor, and now her sword hung at her waist. She looked like a soldier marching right into battle with all her weapons. Though normally the weight of her belongings did not bother her, their weight plus the injury on her leg made her feel as if she were carrying a wagon full or weapons rather than just a few. But still she did not complain, and the longer she walked, the easier it became. By the time she had reached the main road, the burning sensation in her leg had become mostly numb with only a dull ache whenever she stepped wrong. She glanced back every so often to ensure Philip was following.

What a doozy the last few weeks had been. Phillip was lucky Belle had come along to help him, and was saddened when she had to leave. He wrapped his arms around her and held her tight for a moment. "I don't know how I will ever repay you... When I find Aurora I will somehow find a way to let you know." He let go and smiled at her, looking at her lovely face once again. Who would have thought such a delicate creature would be the one to save his life? He lowered himself onto a large rock and rubbed his temples and running his fingers through his matted hair. Phillip watched as Belle left, then turned his attention fully to Mulan. His eyes wandered over her for a moment, wondering what he had gotten himself into. Though he was happy for some help, he never expected it would come from a woman, let alone one as androgynous as this. "I'm Phillip."He nodded his head in introduction, smiling ever so slightly as he observed her gathering her things. Never did he introduce himself as Prince, unless the situation greatly warranted it. This Mulan was greatly favoring one leg, and by her expression he could tell she was trying to brush it off. Honestly, he was feeling like he could use a good bath, a good ale, and a good night's rest. As she pointed ahead, he instantly wondered why they couldn't just go back to where they had been, it was much closer. Rolling his eyes, he stood up. She had already headed that way. It was her leg after all, not his. If she planned on helping him however, he may need her to have use of both her legs. Before he asked his question, he knew the answer. "Would you like some assistance with anything? Looks like that leg is dragging you down." Unfortunately for Phillip, his exhaustion and state of mind caused him to ask this in almost a rude manner. He didn't feel the need to be social at this moment, and hoped Mulan wasn't big on chatting as most women were. Hua Mulan

The comment about her leg seemed to hit a nerve. Mulan gritted her teeth together, the corner of her mouth tugging down into a frown. "It's fine." She grunted out. What would make him think she needed his assistance? She was a warrior, and thus she could endure any amount of pain. What would make him think otherwise? Because she was a woman? There was another nerve struck. Being in the imperial army had been hard; especially after they found out she was a woman. Kicked out and left for dead a snowy mountain all because she was not a man and therefore not good enough. Mulan huffed out angry at the memory. Though she did not blame her fellow soldiers-- she did not even blame Shang. No, she blamed society for it's inability to believe in a woman's strength. Even here, despite the culture differences, she was still looked at oddly for being a female warrior.
Furrowing her brow in agitation, Mulan continued on. After several minutes in silence, she turned her head a bit to look at the man. "....." She stared at him for a moment then sighed. She could tell he was tired as well. It was selfish of her to force him to travel with her immediately after he had been released from his monstrous form. He was exhausted, and in need of rest. Mulan made a face; her lips a tight line while the corners drooped slightly. "...I know you're tired." She commented after a moment. Looking back to the road. "I apologize for dragging you off when you are so badly in need of rest." She would have loved more than anything to just collapse somewhere and sleep the time away, but with the way her leg was hurting she knew it would be a restless sleep consisting of tossing and turning. "I will return this favor once we've arrived in the village.
" You have my word."

From the short, and not so sweet response from Mulan, Phillip got the hint thah she was one of those type of women. The type that assumed any suggestion of help from a man meant the man thought she was not capable. He had always been raised to respect women and treat them with the utmost respect. Chivalry was in his blood. If this new companion was a man, he'd offer the same help. Nodding slightly to her response, he managed a look that could be seen as a smile. Mulan was limping heavily, more so than before, yet she still refused help. If he didn't feel she was being stupid at the moment, he may show her admiration. Phillip was quite aware of how much help a woman could be, especially as of late. But anyone, man or woman, with an injury like that shouldn't be walking, let alone lifting armor and weapons. Slumping his shoulders and head, he walked with little grace after her lead. He tried to focus on the sounds of the forest around him; the humming of insects and rustling of leaves. It wasn't as if he were missing out on incredible conversation. Looking up he watched Mulan falter slightly along the way. The silence was almost comforting, his conversational skills seemed to be lost. When Mulan spoke again, her voice carried a note of sympathy, surprising him. Yes, he was exhausted. He hadn't slept very well even after Belle comforted him and made sure all his wounds were tended. He wasn't sure how long this feeling would last, but he assumed after weeks of being the beast it may take a moment to recover. Being the way he was, he wasn't used to the feelings welling up inside of him. And... there she went again, trying to be noble. Sighing, he matched his steps to hers. Despite her leg being injured she was still trying to walk faster than he was. He saw this as arrogance, pride that could not be swayed no matter the circumstance. He understood the feeling but refused to admit it. "What favor? You won't even let me help you" Phillip waved his hand, indicating the load she was carrying. "You need rest more than I do, but at least I'm not too stubborn to admit it."Immediately he knew that wasn't the nicest comment, considering they were supposed to working together. He kept reminding himself that this Mulan was frends with the Belle, the beautiful savior of his body and soul. She set him free when no one else believed, and he owed her more than he could ever pay. "Sorry." His apology was half-hearted, but he was honestly too weak to care. His head dropped and he stared at his feet as they shuffled on the dirt floor of the forest. Hua Mulan
