Today in Storybrooke was like most other weekends, everyone was going about their business in the same way they normally did, only with slight changes to their schedule, but they did just about everything the same as they did the other day, that they did it was all part of the curse, of how everyone was frozen in time doomed to repeat the same things over and over again with only the slightest of change. The only time they seemed to do anything different was when they interacted with either Regina the Mayor or eight year old Henry, but that's was it really just about it, everything seemed to stay the same. The reason that Henry had not really noticed was because the curse was blinding him to those facts, though he did feel that something was wrong, and he always found it difficult to connect with the other kids at school, he could swear they were the same age, but that was just being silly.
The best part about this day was that it was the start of the weekend, there was no school at all, that meant a whole day just between him and his mother together, he loved days like that, just as much as he loved his mum, he was hoping he would get to spend some time with her today, that she didn't have to go off to one of those boring meetings or have to work, though if she did he was sure he could find ways to amuse himself it was easy enough, he could go and explore the woods around Storybrooke maybe, that would be awesome he wondered if there was anything interesting out there, maybe something scary or some a hidden secret hideout.
Henry who had been in the bed only moments ago had now already got up and was looking out the window at Storybrooke as the sun began to crawl its way up over the horizon, it was supposed to be a warm day today, certainly plenty of time to have fun, which was why Henry was up early enough. He then excitedly ran out of his bedroom and into his mum's room. "Mum, mum , mum it's the weekend, it's time to get up," he spoke excitement in his voice almost speaking ten to the dozen, "it's time to get up," he told her trying to shake her softly awake, he hated when she got mad at him so he did it gently so as not to upset her too much.

It was that time of day again: morning. Oh, how she hated it. Regina opened her eyes briefly before rolling on her other side and trying to go back to sleep. She didn't move when she heard the door open, knowing it was more than likely her energetic young son, Henry. When she felt him trying to wake her up she muttered and reluctantly opened her eyes. "Yes, yes, I'm up. I'm up." She said wiping the sleep out of her eyes. "Morning already hmmm?" She muttered more to herself than anyone else as she sat up and looked in out the window before turning her attention back to her young son and smiling. "So Henry, what should we have for breakfast?" She asked the little boy.
Henry really was the light of her life. When she had first come to Storybrooke she hadn't been as happy as she thought she would be. Was she satisfied with the results of the curse? Absolutely. But she had never been truly happy until Gold had found Henry for her. Of course, things were still difficult at first. Henry had not been a quiet baby, and as a new mother she hadn't known what to do. She learned with time of course, but those first few moths had been hell. Even so, she wouldn't trade them for anything. Her little boy was absolutely perfect, and she would ruin any idiot who said otherwise.
She was just glad that she did not have to go into work today. She enjoyed being mayor here, but it was a lot of work and took away from the time she could spend with Henry, which she knew he did not appreciate. She smiled and ruffled her son's hair. "Alright, head downstairs my early bird. I'll meet you there in a minute." She said before grabbing some clothes out of a drawer and heading to the bathroom to change.

"Yup, it's morning, you can't be tired in the morning, that's for night time mummy," Henry told her with a serious look on his face or as serious as an eight year old could look, Henry was just very excited to get spend time with his mother, he just couldn't wait to see what they were going to do today, but first she had to get up, so they would be able to spend time together, there was breakfast first but then they could spend time together, he had already done all his homework yesterday so that would not get in the way either, in fact he didn't believe anything could get in the way of him getting to spend time with his mother. He was determined to make sure this day was for the two of them and the two of them only, Henry smiled at his mum a happy energetic smile that was really ready for anything.
Henry concentrated really hard as she asked him what they should have for breakfast almost frowning as he concentrated, unsure of what he really wanted, but his stomach did rumble a little bit and he was really hungry. He would of asked for his mum's lasagne it was the best food he had ever tasted, mum made the best lasagne, she was the best cook in the whole wild world, Granny came a close second but he would never tell his mum that he much preferred hers . So he though it over some more about what he really, really wanted to eat for breakfast. "I think, we should have rice krispies , mum, two big bowl's full of them, because," he looked down at his stomach as it rumbled again "i'm really reallyyyy hungry." He told her.
Henry giggled happily as she ruffled up his hair and he nodded as she told him to go downstairs while she got ready, "okay mum," he ran to the door before stopping "mummmm, can I get them down from the cupboard I'm a big boy now I can do it," he asked her before running downstairs and into the kitchen

I can't be tired in the morning hmmm? Watch me dear. Regina thought to herself. Oh, how she hated mornings. She really wanted to just curl up in her warm inviting bed and go back to sleep, but Henry's energetic smile told her that that wasn't going to happen. Well, I suppose I wouldn't have slept much longer anyway. She thought with a sigh. She chuckled when she heard Henry's stomach growling. "Is my big boy starving?" She asked with a smile. As she was about to go get changed she heard Henry ask if he could get the cereal down from the cupboard. "That's fine Henry, use the step-stool and be careful!" She told him before heading into the bathroom to get ready.
As she changed from her pajamas to her regular clothes her thoughts drifted to how she had gotten Henry. Gold had been instrumental in her finding her baby boy, but memories or no she would never trust that little imp. The man was good company at times, and he could be useful when she wanted something that she could not get by other means, but being a huge pain in her rear end was in his very nature. She wasn't even completely sure that the curse had worked on him. He was different as Mr. Gold, a man whose first name apparentlyno one knew, but there were times he acted so much like his old self that she had started to doubt. Well even if he did find away around the curse, he hadn't made any big moves against her yet so she supposed she should try not to worry about it.
Of course, the thing she feared most was that Henry's birth mother would decide that she wanted to raise Henry herself after all. It was illogical she knew, considering the fact that the woman hadn't attempted to do so for eight years now, but she still worried. Regina had legal custody of Henry, but what if he met this other mother and decided he liked her better? What was she to do then she asked herself, looking at her face in the mirror. Well, if she continued to have these thoughts she would ask Sidney to see if he could find out what she was up to. In the mean time, Henry was waiting for her. She looked at herself in the mirror, and after deciding she looked satisfactory she headed on downstairs. When she saw her little boy she smiled. "So Henry, what did you want to do today?" She asked the bright-eyed boy, kneeling down to his level.

Henry's face broke into a wide grin as his mum told him he was her big boy, he looked proud at being called that, he was her big boy, he was 8 and could do many thing's he couldn't before, there was something else he really liked being called. She had called him it ever since he was really young, and it made him feel really special like he was her really special boy. She would call him her Little prince, he liked that she was only one who called him it and he just felt special when she did, it also felt like he really was a prince like his mum put an extra special meaning behind it, maybe his mum was really a queen. no that would be silly fairy tales don't really exist, though it would be awesome if they did exist, if his mum was really a Queen and he really was a prince, then he could find her a King to fall in love with and marry. " Uh-uh Mummy I'm really starving," as if to prove it his stomach rumbled again in response and he gave her a really energetic grin, "see" he added pointing to his stomach, "but you'll make it better," he added sweetly with a big happy smile, " you make everything better," he loved her lot's she was his mum and she made everything feel better, from nightmares to cuts and bruises, he remembered that blanket she had got him to help him with nightmares. If he ever had a nightmare and got frightened at night he knew that she would make it all better, all she had to do was tell him one of her special stories. He never felt frightened of dreams after them. He ran out of the room as she called about the step stall and he called back. "Okay mum, I'll make sure to be careful, I won't fall don't worry," he told her trying to make sure she didn't get worried about his safety, he was sure he would be safe, he was big boy he could get his own breakfast without incident he was sure of it, so he ran all the way downstairs and into the kitchen, getting the stepping stool and standing on it to reach the cupboard. He reached up grunting slightly as he got onto tiptoes, he only just got it and it was like the cereal didn't fall, the bowls were easier and he got them all ready. "Done mum! Told you I could do it!" Henry shouted up the stairs proudly so happy that he was big enough to do that now. He waited for her to come down the stairs and he grinned widely as she came down to her level, it made him feel special when she did that, that she didn't just treat him as someone to talk down to like some people did. He looked at her thinking about what she said, and he looked upwards at the ceiling for a moment as he thought "ummmmm," Henry thought about it now pacing a little before stopping in front of his mum. "I want to go on an adventure and spend time with my mummy, the best mum ever."

Henry was such a precious boy. Regina had been so worried when Sidney had faxed her the information about his birth mother that she had almost given him back, but she was glad that she had seen sense before she had gone through with it. What a horrible mistake that would have been. She smiled when she came down the stairs, hearing Henry call that he told her he could do it. When she got to the kitchen she ruffled Henry's hair and smiled, glad he had been able to get the cereal box down without incident. Even though she had said he could, she wasn't sure that he would be able to reach it, but she had always had trouble saying no to him. "I knew you could do it Henry." She told the little boy.
She chuckled when she heard him say he wanted to go on an adventure. "What kind of adventure my little prince?" She asked as she stood up again and poured the cereal into the bowls. This world really did have some strange foods. Not that she was complaining, some of them were quite delicious after all, and quite convenient too. Her heart warmed as she heard Henry call her'the best mommy ever'. After Daniel died she had never even considered the possibility that she might be a mother, not to a child she wanted anyway. "How is school going dear?" She asked as she poured milk into the bowls, got out two spoons and carried the breakfast to the table. The schooling system here was very different from what they'd had in the Enchanted Forest. It seemed like nearly everything was different actually, and even after all these years she still wasn't fully used to it. She wondered if she ever would be. Well she had many more years to try, she was more than happy that if her mother, gods forbid, did somehow make it to Storybrooke she would be just as clueless as to how everything worked as Regina had been her first day here.
Why do I keep thinking about people I don't like? What is wrong with me today? She thought as she sat down at the table and looked at Henry, her precious little boy. She had named him for her father, which some people might view as a bad idea considering her father's fate, but despite what she had done she had loved her father more than anyone save for one person. She had named her adopted son after him as a kind of apology to her father for what she had done. She could only hope that he forgave her.
