Neal had wandered around this new town and had just visited his son Henry and was now seeing what else this town contained. Neal saw many different stores, and suddenly he noticed a store with a name that he thought he recognized. Gold, why did that name sound familiar to him. Suddenly he remembered Emma had said that his father's name was Gold in this world, and that means this must be his store.
Neal was now curious and decided to check out his father's life in this town. He looked around to check no-one was there before pushing the door open and entering the store of his father. Neal wasn't sure what to expect, but, as he looked around Neal saw many things that looked out of place and things that he didn't expect his father to own. Neal knelt down and took a closer look at some of the items. He recognized that most of these things were from the Enchanted Forest, what was his father doing with them?
Neal didn't expect this to be his father's life. It was the complete opposite. Maybe his father had changed. Neal shook his head, No that was impossible. No-one can change from what he was when Baelfire was younger to the complete opposite. Neal stood up and began to walk further into the store, he was hoping so much that he could be out of there before his father showed up. He just wanted to see all of the store first. He checked to make sure his father wasn't coming then left the room and headed to the back half of the store.

Mr. Gold had been in the back sorting through boxes of items which he had yet to display on his shops floor. Certain Items that he felt did not appeal to his eyes were cast aside, items whos original owners cherished, tossed into a pile like trash. He wanted only the best to stand out on his floor. Once he had gone through one box, he set it aside and grabbed another then peeled back the tape which sealed the box together. Just as he was about to open the box he heard the bell on his door ring, the bell captured his attention as he was sure he set the sign on the window to close.
He stood up from a seated position, thinking either one of his usual 'customers' were there needing something or someone was trying to break in. Rumpel sneered, disappointed by the distraction and walked out from the back toward the front of the store. "I'm sorry but the shop is clo...." Before he could finish his eyes captured a face, a familiar one at that, a face that immediately put a smile on his. "Bae...." He stepped out from behind the counter and walked over to his son with outstretched arms.
"You've decided to come to Storybrooke afterall." No amount of words could describe the joy Gold was feeling from his son's decision to come to his town, he assumed after their last encounter that he would never see his son again but there he was, standing before him; Baelfire. He wondered though if Bael was still angry or by his appearance in Gold's shop if forgiveness was going to occur. Either way, Baelfire had come and by his own choice.
Gold had no idea how to express what he was feeling during that moment nor would any words fall between his lips, he had grown speechless as nervousness had overtaken him.
"I-I have a home, with plenty of space." He finally managed to blurt out "Please, you're welcome to come and live there. You and even young Henry if you want. Let me make this right between us Bae." Gold pleaded and placed his right hand on Baelfire's shoulder.

Neal didn't expect his father to be in his store and began to head out when his father stood up and Neal stepped back as his father came towards him. Just because he was here, doesn't mean things were going to immediately change between them. He had spent a lifetime avoiding his father and magic.
He came to Storybrooke for Henry, not him. Neal looked at his father with a sincere face "I came here to be with my son" Neal said, looking down. Neal looked at his father again and then softly smiled "It's ok, I'm staying at Granny's" Neal wanted to make sure that he knew that things couldn't change that easily between them.
Neal wasn't completely going to ice him out, and he looked at him "Dad, I just think we need a bit of distance between us for now." Neal said, looking at his father. Neal was taken aback when his dad placed his hand on his shoulder. "So." Neal said, looking around the room they were in and then gazed back at the area he just left. "This is your new life huh?"

He wanted to beg his son to stay, the desire to have his son back with him was strong. Rumpel searched for many years for the boy who had suddenly became a man, a man scorned with betrayal. Yet, despite the emotions he was feeling and despite the single tear that had fallen down his right cheek, he knew that if he had tried to push his way back into his son's life that it would likely only drive Baelfire further away.
Knowing his son was going to remain in Storybrooke for at least a while even if it was just for Henry was enough for him, though he couldn't help but to at least try to do something for Baelfire even if it meant helping him financially while he was in town. "You're staying at Granny's?" A soft smile graced his lips "At least let me cover the charge of the room, I own the building so you can have the room, rent free. I'll make the call to Granny right now" He said, desperately wanting to help his son any way he could while he was there. Gold knew he could not make up for the time lost but at least he could do everything in his power to make Baelfire's stay as comfortable as he possibly could.
Gold took a few steps back and allowed his son to admire the vast collection that stood on display within his shop, he nodded at his son's question and smiled, proud of everything he had managed to obtain over the years. "This is it, this is where I keep everything. From the items I collected over the years to the records of every single mortgage and rent payment people give me every month on their homes or businesses. It's all in this shop" He added, this moment, even if it was brief meant the world to him, to be able to spend even a second with his son was more than he could ask for considering animosity Bae felt toward Gold.

Neal stood there as his father looked at him, neither of them saying anything. Neal continued to look around the store, not sure whether to say something else. Neal hadn't come to this town for him, and he hoped that his father knew this, although, he wasn't going to completely ice him out.
Neal smiled at his father when he offered to pay for the room. He could tell he was trying to be nice and helpful, but, he didn't want his father paying for the room for him. Neal looked at him and suddenly stepped back not wanting to make his father do that "You don't have to do that dad" Neal said, before taking another look around the store.
Neal looked at the items and spotted many things from the Forest, "Are these from our land?" Neal asked, taking a closer look at some of the items. Neal recognised a few of them, and then picked them up. Neal smiled and looked back at his father, who was still smiling at him.

"I know you said I don't but it would make me feel better if you would just let me help you, even if it's something as small as that" He pleaded. The guilt of that one single night, the night he released the grip on his son's hand still haunted him even in the moment that they were spending together. Gold felt he owed his son everything, everything he owned, every ounce of his heart and every waking moment of his life. He did not care what it would cost, he was determined to win back his son's admiration, the same love Bae had once given him when he was younger. "I'll tell you what, I wont make the call, if it will make you feel better I will cover the cost of the rent out of my own pocket so that you will have somewhere to stay and Granny gets her money. I'm not the most loved person in town but I'm sure she would appreciate that little negotiation" He added then stepped back to take in the sight of his son's wondering eyes as they peered around the shop at the items he displayed. "These are son, everyone of these items belonged to someone before the curse and after the curse had taken place, they ended up in my shop." It wasn't an explanation he wanted to give Baelfire, the tale of everyone's belongings being stripped away and placed into his shop for profit but he just could not bring himself to lie to the one he had sought to find for so many years. Neal looked at his dad as he said that these were from their land. "You're really going to pay Granny to let me stay there" Neal said, in response to his comment about the accommodation. "That doesn't seem like you" Neal said, trying to stop himself from smiling. Neal was sure his dad would never do things like that, he took a closer look at his face, and couldn't tell if he meant it.
Neal continued to look at his dad, before taking another look around the store. His dad really did have a different life here, then they had in the forest. Although, in this town, he still had power and that was something that didn't have a good ending to it. Neal turned back to the items in the store, "So did they give them to you, or, did they just end up here after the curse was enacted?" Neal wanted to believe his dad, but, their past was worrying to him.

He nodded his head, Bae sounded rather surprised at his offer to actually hand someone else money for something that he owned but if it kept his son happy then he was happy, even he was surprised at his own actions but a promise to change was a promise he intended to keep. “I told you Bae that I wanted to change and I think by paying Granny monthly for a room is a good start, don’t you?” Of course Gold knew he would be getting some of that money back around the first of next month since that was when everyone was expected to pay them for the mortgages they owed.
Gold had no real way to explain how the items ended up inside of his store without sounding cruel so the truth would be the only logical thing to give him since Bae likely expected something bad from his father. “When the curse was created, I was granted all of these items to keep for myself by Regina so basically everyone’s belongings ended up in my shop on the day Storybrooke was created. Not a single person had memory of any of these items so I felt they would be mine to keep and I kept them, some I even sold back to their original owners and made money from it.” Harsh but that was the way business worked, at least for him.
“Do you see anything you like? You’re welcome to help yourself to anything in the shop. I even have your old shaul, I kept it locked in my safe for all of these years, it was the only thing I had left that reminded me of you son. I would be happy to return it to you since it belonged to you to begin with” Gold said and quickly walked over to his safe and began to twist around on the combination to open it.

Neal nodded at his dad, as he mentioned about Granny's "Yeah, I guess it would" Neal was still surprised by this, but, was glad his dad was making this offer. Neal listened to his dad as he explained about how the items ended up in his store "So, you're selling them back the items that were theirs anyway?" Neal wasn't going to make a big thing about this, as he knew his father still couldn't live without the idea of some kind of power.
Neal watched as his father told him he could have anything from the store, even, his old shawl "You still have that?" Neal asked standing up. Before he could answer, his father was already opening the safe. Neal looked around the store again as his father went into the safe.
