Strengths: Belinda has a certain way about her that demands respect. She carries herself with confidence and is not afraid to stand up for herself. Belinda is incredibly cunning and believes this is her biggest strength. This is why she makes a wonderful actress. In terms of physical strength, Belinda is strong and fast. As a child, she was taught to defend herself, and she spent many a day running away from trouble. She is trained in a few forms of combat, but her favorite weapon is the bow.
Weaknesses: The down side to Belinda is that the most beautiful part of her is her outward appearance. She is very vindictive, and has little to no care about anyone other than herself. She is not to be trusted, even if she seems like she is on your side she isn’t. She is also a poor swimmer, and is scared of drowning. Quote: “As if I really care about your problems?”
Personality: To describe Belinda would be like trying to describe a wild creature. Belinda can be a lot of fun and is always the life of the party. She isn’t afraid to try anything new, and will most likely be the instigator of any under handed activity. Her personality is both loud and conspicuous at the same time. She knows how to adapt herself to most situations, and has a way of charming everyone around her.
Belinda is a rather good actress; hell you could even say she was great. Because she can so easily lie to anyone to get her way, she has learned to convince others she is a loving, charitable person. She can play most any part due to her uncanny ability to read people’s exact expressions, accents and mannerisms.
In all reality Belinda is a bitter, vindictive person. She hates seeing others be happier than she is, and has always felt she wasn’t given the opportunities that many others received. Even as a child she was incredibly jealous of all the other children and would try to take away their toys. Most of her friends are only acquaintances she has promised something to for helping her; whether it is money or power. No one can trust her, which makes it hard for her to be close to anyone. She is never satisfied and always wants more.
Because she is so bitter, Belinda finds it hard to ever be happy. There are moments, fleeting ones, in which she feels happy. Usually those are the times spent with his only friend, Murphy. She can’t honestly say she has ever felt love, love requires being able to sacrifice for another, which Belinda is not willing to do.
History: (BEFORE CURSE)
Belinda was born into a world of nothingness. Her father was a thief, and her mother was a prostitute. From day one she was cursed with the inconvenience of family, the people you could never choose. Living off a few loaves of bread and whatever food her father could steal, Belinda was destined to live a life of a beggar, scoundrel and peasant.
Even at a young age, Belinda began to resent her family. Being a child, she was cute, and her parents knew how to use that to their advantage. They often had Belinda steal or beg for food and money from strangers. Her father, Markus, taught her how to be cunning and fierce. She excelled at this, and was happy for the praise she received. But when she failed her father was not so forgiving. Because her mother was so timid and always gave into her father, Adrienne never stood up for her daughter, resulting in much harsh verbal and physical abuse.
As she grew older, Belinda began to use her skills to stay away from her father as much as possible. As a teenager, Belinda used her good looks to scam older men out of money, jewels and many other treasures. She managed to stay with some “friends” she made; guards that worked for the royal family. She survived on her own for many years, only visiting her parents to give her mother money and supplies. Though she hated them, she couldn’t watch her mother suffer so much.
On the eve of her 17th birthday, Belinda overheard some workers talking about how the Princess Ophelia was looking for a new handmaiden. This was her opportunity to make a better life for herself, and get in good with the royals. That evening she snuck into town, stole an acceptable outfit and devised a plan. She would appeal to this Princess in every way; make her think she was the best friend a girl could ask for.
For Belinda, it was easy enough to get the job. When she met with Ophelia she complimented her, and acted humble and kind. Ophelia opened up to her, sharing all kinds of secrets with Belinda. They became fast friends, at least in Ophelia’s mind.
When Belinda learned of her engagement to the prince of Bayern, a plot began to brew in her mind. From what she gathered, Ophelia and Marik had never met. This meant he wouldn’t know what she looked like. Belinda was blonde, just like Ophelia, and even though they didn’t look much alike she had been around Ophelia enough to know her mannerisms. Along with her good friend Murphy one of the guards, they convinced all the others to get in on the plot by promising them riches and women when the plan went through. She had to stop the royal wedding, and she knew just what to do. On the way there, she forced Ophelia to switch clothes and horses with her. Belinda was to arrive in Bayern, pretending to be Ophelia and marry the prince, while the real Ophelia was forced to live as a servant.
What joy it brought Belinda to see Ophelia with no nope, as she had always been. Why did she deserve a prince and all the riches in the world when she had done nothing in her life but be born?
Unfortunately, Belinda’s plan did not go off without a hitch. Ophelia had figured out a way to convince the king of Bayern that she was the real princess, and Belinda was sentenced to death for treason. Marik, the prince who already didn’t like her, seemed relieved that she was not his betrothed.
At that moment she had never felt so much hate in her life. Murphy and the guards that originally helped her managed to break free and help her escape. Belinda insisted they also kidnap Marik, in order to get back at that sniveling idiot Ophelia.
Belinda and her allies fled with Marik to a safe location in Kildenree. For many weeks Marik screamed and raved, trying to break free. The whole helpless lover act was really getting on Belinda’s nerves, so she decided to find someone who could cast a love spell on Marik. The spell was successful, and for five years Marik worshipped her every move. Belinda had her guard steal money and jewels for the royal family to keep them sustained for many years. Though she was never happy, she felt this was the closest she was going to get… until the curse hit and it all went away…
(DURING CURSE)
Adelaide Marx had a rather troubling childhood. She was often teased by other children because she was overweight. Her parents were also corrupt, so other families would shy away from having anything to do with them.
As a teenager, Adelaide lost weight and began her journey. She fought to find a few roles in commercials as well as modeling in local fashion shows. She became rather famous in New York, and at the age of 16 was hired for a full time part on a popular television show. Her life was quite fabulous, and if asked about her childhood she brushed it off, focusing only on the future.
Adelaide was a very good actress, and committed herself to each role she was in. For a part, she decided to visit a small town called “Storybrooke”, in order to study up on small town America. Town go-ers were thrilled to have a star amongst their population and she found a little comfort in how tranquil and un-busy this place was. Once settled there, it seemed as if she never left……
(AFTER CURSE)
Adelaide realizes she is Belinda and is determined to find Murphy and Marik.
Likes: Belinda loves winning, and getting her own way. She loves manipulating other people and finds great joy in ruining people’s lives. She loves stealing from others as well, not only is it a thrill but it is also a way to get back at people. She loves jewels, gold, art and money. She LOVES mirrors and owns a ton of them (Mostly she loves her reflection).
Dislikes: Swimming, she isn’t sure why but she has always hated it and has never been good at it. She doesn’t like losing in the least bit. She hates Ophelia and her goody good friends. She is ashamed of her upbringing and never mentions it. Belinda is a little OCD, and doesn’t like anything being out of place or dirty.
