all you did was show.
that anyone can change her life.
It was a very special day indeed. Henry's 16th birthday. There was a time that Snow White thought that what she saw before her would never be real. It wasn't just celebrating her grandson's birthday (while she herself was still in her early 30s, mind you), but being in the Enchanted Forest with Emma and Henry. But more than just Emma and Henry. Heather Margaret had joined them, the beautiful daughter that was born during their time in New York City…the year that fell off the map for her. Henry had become an amazing big brother. Although they found themselves all back in the Enchanted Forest, there were things she missed about their adventures in Storybrooke. At the end of the day, while Regina tore them apart for so long ago - she had also given them the chance to come together in a way they'd have never been able to before. As she looked out at the ball room, she couldn't help but think that in some weird way…maybe it had all been worth it.
She glanced over the royal chairs as each of the family had a seat - and seeing Emma among them brought more joy and pride to her heart than anything she'd ever felt before. She was playing with her little daughter, who was about 4 years old now. Heather, unlike her mother and brother, had spent more of her life in the Enchanted Forest than she had in The Land Without Magic and Storybrooke. She was able to grow up the way that Snow White had wanted Emma to grow up…but she was glad at least one of them got to grow up in the land that she'd known since she was a child.
Henry seemed to have taken to the whole thing without blinking. Alright, so, he did spend way more time playing video games than any of them would have liked - but for the most part he fell right into the life in the Enchanted Forest. He'd learned riding, sword play, and archery in Storybrooke so he hadn't arrived completely ignorant to some of the skills that were required by the residents here. Just because they had good friends from Storybrooke didn't mean that they were safe enough from villains to stop being vigilant. It might be a world of "fairy tales" as far as the Land Without Magic was concerned, but there was darkness in the land that would always be there. Like any world, the balance between light and dark was forever. Where there was light, there would be dark.
Snow's eyes moved to see Regina…just because there was a bit of darkness, didn't mean that people couldn't make those choices for themselves. Each of them had light and dark in them, but they had the ability to let light win within themselves. If they did, then maybe…just maybe, light could win in the world too. It was amazing for Snow to see her step-mother happy again, and for them to have the family together.
Henry's entrance as Prince was perfect, and she could tell by the look on his face that he was having a good time. She smiled over at Charming and they exchanged gentle words between each other - words that were quickly interrupted by the pitter patter of the three year old Prince Edward. He was the son that Snow gave birth to shortly after they awoke in Storybrooke as if they had never left. He and Heather were getting to grow up together, and they were certainly adorable together. His nanny was there to watch him and enjoy the ball with all of them. No one was excluded. "Hello, my little Edward," she knelt down and wrapped his arms around her. She picked up him and the couple fawned over him.
The dance floor began to move along with the music, and Snow couldn't help but notice Henry sweeping Piper onto the floor. Their little prince may have just chosen his princess. Her attention moved back to Charming and little Edward. Her heart swelled - she couldn't remember a time she was more happy. Her kids, her grandkids, her husband…her family. It was exactly what she'd always wanted. It was proof of one thing - the happy endings were back.
