Yaoguai
How could this happen? One moment Aurora was in his arms and the next he found himself in a cell, beaten and alone. Captured by Maleficent, Phillip was tormented for days before she revealed her true intentions. The events of the past 72 hours became more jumbled as Phillip desperately stumbled through the forest, tearing down a path through the trees; fire trailing in his wake. All he wanted to do was scream. To cry. To speak. But when he opened his mouth only an unsettling roar filled the air and even the animals ran from him. His surroundings were unfamiliar, and his heart burned as he tried to see the world through fiery lenses. He could not control his anger, the beast he had become wished for revenge.
Blindly, he sought refuge, hoping he had enough strength to overcome the darkness that he felt strangling his heart. Inside his mind he could see the beast lurking in the corner, feeding off the shadows of his soul. All he could feel was pain and all he could see was fire. The beast left him distant and numb to the world, and he struggled to fight the beast within.
Phillip had only wished to find his love, to hold her in his arms. But Maleficent had other plans. Never would he hear her angel song or feel her gentle skin. Shaking his large beast head, he tried to hold onto those memories. For a moment, he wished he were dead because then the suffering would end. With a large thud, he fell to his knees and tore madly at the ground with massive claws.
The repetitive movement stirred his heated emotions, hatred spewing out with each tear. He pictured Mafelicent, with her loathsome smile and sharp horns, taunting him as she circled his beastlike form. Before she had set him free she made sure to throw salt into his wounds, whispering silky words into his ear of how he would never feel happiness or love. Her words fell from her lips like poison as she sneered and told him he would never see his Princess again.
The Phillip within him wept, as the beast stood over him, snarling and breathing heavily. Never before had he felt so wrong, so out of control. He was defenseless, left alone to fight an unstoppable force. His old self was gone, diminished, how was he ever to return?
Looking down, he realized where he had been digging was turning into quite a hole. Pushing away from it, The Phillip part of him struggled to move the beast’s large limbs. Whatever adrenaline his human soul had possessed was slipping quickly and his will to fight was gone with it. The hopelessness of the situation haunted him, sending him into a spiral of despair.
The Phillip silently wished for death, a quick release to end his torment. Aurora would understand, if she knew what it was like. He hated to be the cause of any pain to her sweet spirit and for a moment, the beast was tame, the only sound that of the wind whipping through the trees.
Thanatos
