Ariette gracefully walked along the sidewalk to Granny’s Diner. She had just been at the ballet studio practicing. She had to cut practice off short due to her stomach deciding it needed to roar with complaints. She realized she hadn’t eaten all day and it was already almost dinnertime. She hadn’t really changed, just took off her ballet shoes and put on a black pair of flats. She still wore her pink stockings, black leotard, and white ballet skirt over all of that she wore a light jacket. She didn’t really have someone to eat with so she figured she would just sit up at the bar and get a quick bite to eat.
ring , ring The belle chimed as the young brunette walked through the door. She didn’t really look around just made it to the counter and grabbed one of the menus. She hated always getting the same thing, now that her memory was back she could change things up. She didn’t have to feel incomplete any more. When the server came over to her Ari ordered a ice water. She was still unsure what she wanted to eat.
“Could you give me a little longer?” she asked politely when the server returned with the water, she didn’t know why deciding what to eat was so hard. She used to run a Kingdom, now she couldn’t even deiced what to eat for dinner.

Phillip’s mind was still in a whirl as he left Madame Medusa’s shop. For a good portion of the day after that, he simply wandered the forest, hoping the silence would help clear his thoughts. So far he had been in this town for almost three days and no one had any information on Aurora or Mulan. Dusk began to fall as he realized he had been wandering for hours. In this town he felt so out of place, as if he were a burden. No home to call his own, no money or power. Not even Samson.
Inhaling deeply, his eyes drifted to the sky, the colors of the sunset painting a beautiful picture. But Phillip was too angry to appreciate it, too upset to recognize beauty. A gentle breeze ruffled his hair, and he shivered slightly. He felt the goose bumps on his arms with his fingertips and figured he should make his way back into town. If he was going to be stuck here, he would have to get a job of sorts to make some money. Currently he had no place to stay, he didn’t want to overstay his welcome with Graham and besides, he needed his own space as well.
Pondering these ideas, he headed into town, his hands stuffed in his pockets. Everything here was still so new and strange, and for a moment he wished he were dreaming. The moment passed however when he realized the last time he was home, he had been basically dead. Better to be out of place than dead. Sooner than he realized he had hit what was called “Main Street”. From his conversation with Neal the previous day, he knew a place called “Granny’s Diner” would be able to serve him dinner. Neal had even given him a few “dollars”, which was the appropriate currency here. Phillip knew however since many of these people hailed from the Enchanted Forest and other realms, that his gold and other coins held some value with certain shop owners.
The sign wasn’t hard to spot for the diner, so he pushed open the doors. As he walked in, he wasn’t quite sure what to do, and saw no barmaids to help him. ‘They really treat people well here, huh?’ He thought sarcastically, looking around awkwardly. Wow he felt like an idiot. A few customers stared at Phillip and he nervously smiled. A young woman finally approached him after what seemed like eternity and told him he could sit wherever he liked. That was helpful. Phillip observed the larger tables were mostly occupied by groups or couples. His eyes fell on the bar area, which was rather empty except for one other customer.
Making his way over to the bar, Phillip tucked his tall frame onto the small stool. In front of him was a menu, covered in some sort of shiny coating. What magic created this? Picking it up, he turned it over and over again, touching it. Never would he get used to this place. Finally he stopped turning the menu and looked at the choices. There were a lot of them and he really didn’t understand the half of it.
Scrunching up his face, he turned to a young woman sitting two seats away. She was quite lovely, with an aura of kindness. She also held herself well, perhaps she had been some type of royalty; yet she seemed to be comfortable here. Leaning over slightly, one elbow on the counter, he flashed her one of his brightest smiles. A small sparkle lit up within him, causing the golden color of his eyes to pop.
“Excuse me my lady, but do you know what is good to eat here? Unfortunately I have no idea what half of these choices mean and I’m absolutely starving.” His voice was thick and charming, as usual. Perhaps he could strike up a conversation with her to pass the time. Back when the world wasn’t turned upside down, Phillip never had a shortage of friends and companions.

The belle rang again as someone else walked into the diner. It was a man, one that Ari didn’t recognize at all. He must of missed the last curse she thought to herself, she turned back to her menu to decide what she was going to get. Maybe a roast beef Panini, something different but something also light. She wanted to go back to the studio after she ate after all and a heavy dinner would just make her feel sick.
It was strange to think that a whole year of her life was missing. She didn’t know if she found Derek in the time she had been back to the Enchanted Forest. She felt very uneasy not knowing what happened, what she didn’t understand was if she found Derek why didn’t he get caught up in the second curse. If they were so much in love why were they always separated? First it was because she was cursed as a Swan, the second was the first curse, and now… now there was a whole second curse and Derek was once again not by her side. The thought darkened her heart, she was still so unsure about her relationship with him… she didn’t even know if during the forgotten year if they had fixed things.
The darker thoughts were pushed from her mind from a voice, a soft smile formed on her lips as she turned to look at him. “The Pot-roast is to die for”. If she wasn’t going back to the studio she would be having that instead of a light Panini. She couldn’t help but let out a small giggle “You must have missed the last curse” The people who got caught up in the first curse had it much easier coming to Storybrooke, they still had their other lives floating around in their heads. She could tell by the way he walked he had to be royalty or at least highborn. “I’m Ariette here” She stuck out her hand; she wasn’t sure if he would kiss it or shake it. “Princess Odette the Swan Princess back home”. She wasn’t sure if he had heard of her, the whole Princess who got cursed to being a swan then rescued by her prince. She tried to rack her brain; she had been to so many parties had these two met back in their old life? Or at least been to the same ball.

The smile stayed on Phillip’s lips, his initial impression of her seemed to be correct. As she made a suggestion, he nodded his head and looked at the menu, wondering what a pot roast was. Thinking he may seem rude for not keeping eye contact, he turned all his attention back to Ariette. “Hopefully that’s a saying; I’ve been dead enough to cover me for a while.” Chuckling, he realized she would have no idea what he was talking about.
Her voice was gentle, and the sound of her laugh brought light to his heart. Fate must have guided him to Granny’s Diner this evening, as it had led him to Storybrooke. Again, the mention of this curse; a subject in which he was still thoroughly confused about. He reminded himself to inquire more about the curse later. So far he had endured two rather nasty curses himself, three if you counted the curse cast on Aurora.
Phillip took her small hand in his and squeezed it gently, lifting it to his lips in a proper fashion. She had introduced herself as a princess, and a princess deserved to be treated with the utmost respect. He rattled her name around in his mental data bank of royalty. ’Odette… Odette.’ The problem with being in a royal position is that you met new people day in and day out. “It is a pleasure to meet you Princess, at least officially.” He still had a hold of her hand, so he gently placed it down on the counter.
Smoothly he slipped from his stool to the one right next to her. “I am Prince Phillip, but please just call me Phillip.” He added a bit of fake begging to his tone for fun. Tilting his head to the side, he examined the features of her face. The same woman who had so ‘nicely’ helped him find a seat was back and was trying to talk to them. Though Phillip wasn’t attempting to be rude, she was breaking his train of thought which was barely running at this point. Honestly he didn’t notice her presence; he was more excited at the prospect of actually knowing someone else in this new world.
“Is your father King William?” Phillip recalled their family had attended a few of the balls his parents had held back home, though he did not think he ever met this princess. She seemed a bit younger than he was, which is probably why his father never tried to set them up as he did with every other Princess in the world.
