"Seriously Samson?" Phillip huffed, raising his arms and slapping at the water around him. Currently, he was laying down in the water, clothes and all. His horse paced the shore, making a noise that almost sounded like a laugh. "Nice... real nice!" He declared, frowning. Luckily for him, it was a warm enough day that his clothes would dry off rather quickly. During their normal afternoon ride, Samson had gotten spooked, and started running as if there were wolves at his back. Phillip, not being prepared, had lost his grip on the horse and was sent toppling into the water.
Phillip turned his head and looked at the large rock right next to it. Could have been worse he supposed. Since he was already wet, he closed his eyes and tipped back his head. Cool water cleared his head, and his initial annoyance at the situation washed away. Lately he was worrying about his future. His father, King Hubert, kept reminding him of his marriage arrangement. Not only did he have to become king, he also had to marry a woman he didn't even know. Phillip had met her once, when he was a child... and that was it. Was he honestly supposed to marry this woman?
Realizing he needed oxygen to breathe, Phillip lifted his head out of the water and sat up. Samson had gotten bored with him and walked off to chew on some fresh looking grass. Typical of the creature, he had a rather unique personality. Slowly Phillip pushed himself up out of the water and stepped onto shore. He stripped off his cloak, boots and shirt, leaving on only his pants. He threw the items onto a tree branch near by and shook out his hair, leaving it tossled.
As he considered taking off his pants to let them dry as well, a soft sound drifted to his ears. Singing? He couldn't quite tell. He stood completely still and waved at Samson, indicating to him to stop chewing so loudly. The sound was definitely singing... a song and a voice that was very familiar. Before even waiting for his clothes to dry, he hopped onto Samson's back and kicked him a bit hard with his right leg. The horse had after all, almost drowned him, so he didn't feel too bad.
Wind hit his bare chest, causing a slight chill to over come him. This all felt so familiar to him, as if he were in a dream and had the same dream over and over again. Hastening Samson, they rode faster, a few tree branches tickling at Phillip's sides. The singing grew louder and more beautiful, as if to draw him in. Suddenly, as they rounded a patch of pine trees, Samson halted, almost causing Phillip to fly forward.
"Samson what did...." He started to ask, but then saw the reason his horse had stopped. A few feet before him was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her red hair glistened in the sun that poked through the trees causing almost a halo to appear above her head. Phillip froze in place, looking down at her. Surely she had heard he and Samson trampling through the woods, and he was quite worried they may have scared her with their sudden appearance.
