"to new friends" ------------------- Just Henry Swan ------------------- New York instead of Boston, that's where they were living now, it was bigger and much cooler than Boston, though it was a little bit more confusing. Henry was sure he would get to like it though, the bigger the place the more secrets there were, the more fun that was to be had, there were more places to explore. There would be lots of new things to do here, and he was sure it would be even better than Boston, Henry could not wait. Henry wasn't sure how things would go for his mom and him here, but he was sure they could make some sort of good life here, maybe even better than Boston, maybe his mom might finally be able to find someone to settle down with who knew.
They had to move because of a fire in the last Apartment, Henry didn't really want to leave Boston, but his mom thought New York would be best for them. Plus she said something about there most likely being more cases down that way, so Henry didn't argue, the more cases and jobs for his mom, the more money she could make. The better she could move on hopefully, from his dad and hopefully he could help her out one day he'd like that.
Part of this meant he needed a new school and well that was where Henry was at the moment. Henry was with his mom or well had been, he had already looked around the school and it seemed pretty cool, one of the better ones. His mom seemed to decided he should go to this one, after asking him of course. He quite liked the library and surprisingly the gym area which was odd, he was not the most sporty of kids. For now though he was outside sitting on the steps, waiting for his mom to finish talking with the headteacher. He sighed a little and kicked a rock between his feet. He looked up though when a football came rolling towards him as did another kid come running after it.

Playing football alone wasn't easy. And it wasn't exactly fun either. This version of the sport consisted of Avery throwing the football and attempting to run fast enough to catch it before it landed. 1 out of about 1,000 times this worked, but it gave something to do while his parents talked to his teacher. Apparently someone had set a trash can in the boys bathroom on fire. Avery had already convinced his parents it wasn't him, now they just needed to fight with the teacher long enough to convince him too.
After swepting his mop of hair away from his face, he stood in position. "Hut, hut... hike."He hiked the ball to himself and ran backwards, ready to toss the ball forward. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a figure sitting on the steps near the school. He squinted his eyes, trying to recognize the person. After thorough examination he realized he didn't know who it was. For the hell of it, he turned his body and tossed the ball in the direction of the boy on the steps. He throw it shallow enough so that it wouldn't hit the other boy, just land near him.
Once his target was hit, he threw on a smile and jogged towards the ball. "Didn't you know you were suppossed to catch it?" He titled his head with a smirk on his face. Avery lifted one foot and put it on top of the football. "That is the point of the game." He continued on with his joke. Though Avery didn't have many friends, it wasn't as if he didn't try. Most people ended up too dull, or not understanding his sense of humor. Didn't hurt to try though, so Avery always attempted to introduce himself to a new face.

"to new friends" ------------------- Just Henry Swan ------------------- Henry looked up from the football as the other kid, who obviously went to the school, came jogging over and called out to him. From what he could see the kid was both his age and seemed to be playing football all by himself, did that mean he was new as well or just that he didn't have that many friends? Henry wasn't sure but considering this guy was the first student to actually talk to him here he wasn't going to squander any chances of making new friends. Considering having moved he had lost all his friends from Boston.
Henry smiled back at the kid and looked up at him as he put his foot on the ball and Henry chuckled slightly at his joke. "Yeah must be my slow reflexes," Henry joked back though his reflexes were okay he was just not usually a very sporty person, it didn't mean he didn't plays sports every now and then it just meant he preferred not to when it came down to it. Henry stood up now and gave a friendly smile and decided to be polite and extended his hand. "My names Henry, Henry Swan. What's yours?"

Avery pushed the ball with his foot, kicking it up so that he could catch it. He smiled at the other boy, now he had a name for the face. With his free hand he reached out and shook Henry's extended hard. From a young age his father had taught him the importance of a good handshake as a first impression. If he could see him now, this handshake rocked. *In all reality Avery shook Henry's hand way too hard*.
"Avery, Avery Lane," He announced, standing tall to get a good look at this Henry. Seemed friendly enough, though his handshake could use work. He never introduced himself as Michael, much to his parents dismay. 'You should be proud of your family name', his father always said. Avery didn't understand why they brought on the confusion. His dad and grand dad were both Michael... how would they be able to tell them apart?
Snapping out of his slight daydream, he turned his attention back to Henry. "You going to start at the school here soon?" He fiddled with the football in his hands, turning it over and over. New kid meant a new oppurtunity to make a friend. Most of the kids at school he had known since Kindergarten, and had disliked him since then as well.

"to new friends" ------------------- Just Henry Swan ------------------- Dear lord that was a powerful hand shake, Henry had in no way been expecting that, in fact Henry felt a little shaken after it. Henry though kept hold of his hand though as they shook hands, not being put off by how powerful it was. Henry was liking this kid already, he seemed friendly enough and well he seemed eager with the hand shake, he didn’t see anything wrong with doing stuff like football with him if the kid wanted to. He didn’t usually play sports but if asked he wouldn’t exactly turn it down. He just wasn’t that big a fan of doing sports to be honest.
“Avery? Nice to meet you Avery,” Henry said with a big friendly smile in response, and he noticed the kid was a little bit taller than him, not that much a surprise, Henry wasn't exactly short but he wasn't exactly tall either. It was nice to meet someone though, no one else had really talked to him part from the teachers really. So this was the first kid here that seemed really interested in wanting to talk, and get to know him, so Henry was happy enough to say hello. Even though it seemed that Avery was daydreaming right now, Henry didn't mind he just let him do it and waited a bit until he had stopped daydreaming not wanting to disrupt him.
“Yeah at least, it looks like it, mom seems to like this place better than the rest,” it wasn't just his mom who thought that Henry was thinking it as well, he liked this school much better than the other ones he had seen. Not only that it was a bit closer to the apartment. “Mom’s talking to the headteacher so I think i’m starting here yeah.” He gave another friendly smile and looked around and noticed there weren't really any other kids around. “So you’r out here by yourself?” Henry asked curiously.

Avery listened to Henry, nodding his head so that Henry knew he was paying attention. When the question was posed if he was alone, his cheeks reddened and he rubbed his head nervously. This caused his already wild hair to stick up in all directions.
"Ummmm yeah by myself out here. I think everyone I know went home already." He lied and instantly felt bad. Now he didn't want to start off a possible friendship with a lie, though he also didn't want this new kid to think he was a loser. Avery tended to be a bit much for most people, also other kids were afraid they would get in trouble just be beind around him. That wasn't an entirely unreal possibility.
Avery quickly tried to change the subject, lightly throwing the ball at Henry. "So where are you from?"

"to new friends" ------------------- Just Henry Swan ------------------- Henry noticed Avery get rather embarrassed at his question about being on his own, yet Henry decided not to mention it, he didn't want to upset or embarrass him right now, it wasn't a good idea and plus they had only just met, he didn't want to end up losing a friend as soon as he met one.
"Ohhh okay," Henry said with a big smile it sounded like Avery had other friends which was cool, he wouldn't mind if he didn't, in one place he had stayed Henry had trouble making friends. After that place it was okay he made friends a little easier, it must of just been that school at the time. "Take it your still here because you did something wrong?" Henry asked curiously bit still with a friendly smile, with all the rules it was easy to do something wrong at school. And anyway Henry was quite perceptive, plus with all the kids gone why else would he be here.
"Oh um, I was born in Pheonix but we move around a lot, my mom's a bailbondsperson," Henry told him proudly though not all that happy about the moving. "We plan to stay in New York though," at least that's what his mother told him.

Avery was glad the subject of him having other friends was done, for now. If Henry was starting here, he’d find out soon enough what the others kids thought of him. Better make a really good impression now. So far, this kid seemed pretty cool, and he could really use someone to hang out with after school. A lot of times he would stay after school, or go on walks alone so that his parents wouldn’t think he didn’t have friends. Going home meant having to listen to his little sister Dakota whine, and his mom yelling at him to do chores.
When Henry asked about why he was still there, he couldn’t hide his huge grin. “Apparently someone started a fire in the boy’s bathroom.” He raised his eyebrows and continued talking, very animated. ”Couldn’t tell ya who though.” With a wink, he reached his free hand into his pocket, pulling out a blue Bic lighter and flicking it a few times. “Though I doubt whoever did it would be stupid enough to leave any evidence.”
Still grinning, he stuffed the lighter back into his pocket and listened to Henry explain. He had never lived anywhere besides New York, though he wasn’t complaining. There was always something to do, the city never stopped moving. One advantage to moving all the time would be that no one knew him, so no one could dislike him. “Sounds like your mom is pretty cool, though it’s probably kinda hard to move around a lot.” Avery was being sensitive… that was weird. He reminded himself to get into some sort of trouble later to make up for this moment of angelic like behavior.

"to new friends" ------------------- Just Henry Swan ------------------- Thinking about it Henry wasn't sure about this guys friend's, wouldn't someone of stayed around after school waiting for her him, if he got in trouble. Everyone had best friend somewhere that stuck around waiting for them right? He wasn't sure if Avery was lying to him but he didn't want to make anything out of it, maybe he did have friends or maybe he didn't it wouldn't matter or all that much. Henry didn't have many friends in one place they were living at, so if he didn't well he wouldn't care if he had no friend's Avery seemed pretty cool. "Really?" Henry smiled back, the grin told him who it was and he looked at him curiously, something told him he got in trouble for stuff like this a lot, and while Henry knew he should stay away from troublemaking kids, he found himself liking Avery. He always had the belief that everyone had some good in them and deserved to have friends, and plus some trouble was fun right? All teenagers got into trouble some time, well they weren't teenagers yet but that's what he remembered one of his old friends saying. Henry had gotten into trouble plenty of times as well though something told him not like Avery. Henry laughed a little at his wink and his smile widened as he brought out the lighter, Henry wasn't going to tell on him that was for sure. "Most of been some other kid then," Henry said looking at the lighter and felt slightly nervous when he flicked it but he didn't move. He just smiled again. "I'm sure the kid that did it got rid of all the evidence then, so they just blamed you," Henry's eyes lit up amused, though he wasn't sure he should be talking to him, however he found himself liking Avery a lot. As they kept talking Henry moved the ball around in his hands before throwing it just as gently back at Avery, though his Aim may of been a little off, it still went at Avery though. "Yeah she is," Henry said straightening as he said it and smiling proudly, he loved his mom lots, she had the best job in the world. "She is seriously bad ass," Henry bit his lip as he said that a bit worried he should of said that.. "She always gets the guy or girl she's looking for, she never fails." His mom found people so easily. "Yeah it is, I would rather just stay in one place, we only had to move from Boston because our apartment caught fire, and I couldn't live in Phoenix because," Henry felt like he shouldn't say this he wasn't sure how Avery would react to this, his mom never liked talking about it much, and neither did he. Though Avery seemed all right and he felt like it was okay for him to know. "Well I was born in Jail." Read more: ouadrpg.proboards.com/thread/853/new-friend-york-henry-avery#ixzz2xpCzyH7R

Avery caught the poorly thrown ball, and wondered if this Henry kid ever played any sports. He didn’t want to ask, normally he wouldn’t mind being rude, but he really didn’t want this new kid to hate him right away. Later on, once they had talked more, he could casually ask if Henry played sports. Smiling to himself, he thought he was rather clever with coming up with that plan.
”Sorry to hear about your apartment, but if that didn’t happen then you wouldn’t have moved to New York and meet me!” He chuckled a bit, scratching his head then throwing the ball back to Henry.
So far however, Henry’s life sounded pretty exciting and his mom sounded wicked cool. Avery, being a typical kid, resented how predictable his parents were. They woke up at 6 A.M. every morning, read the paper with breakfast and worked at the store 9-5. They went only family outings and took stupid family photos where they all wore matching clothes. For once Avery wanted something exciting to happen in his life, that is something exciting that he himself did not make happen.
”You were born WHERE?” His eyes widened, staring at Henry. ” That… is… so… damn cool!” Even at this age, Avery had a mouth on him. Despite all his parents punishments and teachers reprimands, he didn’t stop swearing. A lot of what Avery did was for attention, any attention was OK with him. He assumed Henry was all right with it, after his ‘bad-ass’ comment about his mom.
