Amy was standing in her shop, as she watched the many citizens of Storybrooke walked by. Amy wasn't worried, her shop was usually empty for most of the day, however, she still managed to provide for her son. Amy walked around and offered to help the couple of customers she did have.
Amy smiled as she saw one of the customers trying to reach something, "You need some help reaching that miss?" Amy walked up closer as the customer looked at her, the customer looked at him and smiled "I would love some." the customer said, pointing to the object he wanted. Amy smiled and stood in front of the shelf, reaching up for the item. Amy looked back at her and smiled, "Here you go" she said, handing it to her.
"Can I help you with anything else?" Amy kept her smile, as the customer shook her head. "Alright, well if you come this way, I will ring that up for you" Amy headed back to the counter, as the lady walked up to it and handed Amy the item. Amy smiled and scanned it for her "Alright.$10 please." Amy said, as she bagged the item for the customer. Amy took the money from the customer and handed her the bag. "Have a nice day" Amy said, smiling as she watched her leave the store.

that anyone can change her life. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Mary Margaret walked down the town's main street, which was full of activity. People were shopping, eating, and chatting away with their friends a loved ones. As she passed a couple on the bench kissing, she couldn't help but smile a little bit. It was nice to see people in love - and she hoped that she'd be able to find something as pure one day. Her feet hit against the pavement in a calming rhythm as she made her way further down the street. She was mostly just window shopping, but she had a few small bags in her hand. Since she lived in her apartment on her own and she was a school teacher, she didn't exactly have a huge amount of money to play around with on shopping trips.
But none of those sorts of things could bring Mary Margaret down. She still had a smile on her face and love in her heart. The most important things in life couldn't be bought with money, and she knew that to be true in her heart. The sign for Quazzi's was just ahead, and it took her less than a minute to reach it. It was a quaint little store run by a sweet young woman named Amy. They shared an apartment building, and the shop owner's son attended the class that Mary taught. It was hard to remember a time that she didn't know the dark haired young woman. Over the years the two had become good friends, and she always stopped in if she was strolling around the main street. Considering it wasn't far from their apartment building, it was usually fairly often. Besides, it gave them a chance to catch up - and maybe gossip just a little bit.
The bell on the front door chimed as she opened it. Mary Margaret stepped inside, and took in a deep breath. The well kept store always smelled nice. It had dim colored lighting, but many of the displays were lit up beautifully. It was pretty obvious the dim lightly was in place to show off the lighting displays. Incense burned behind the counter, and the decorative rugs and curtains screamed in the style of a gypsy. Mary Margaret loved stepping inside Amy's shop because it felt like she was being transported to another world. She slowly walked around the store, taking a peek at some of the new items that had been added since the last time she visited, while her friend finished up with a costumer.
The school teacher smiled kindly at the woman that was just leaving the shop, and moved over to the counter. "Hey Amy," Mary greeted her with her trademark friendly smile. She leaned up slightly against the counter and looked down at the jewelry on display. There was a huge variety, but much of it was colorful, beaded, and elaborate. Some of it was well out of her price range, but that didn't stop her from admiring the amazing artistic work that went into creating them. "How is your day going?" she asked, glancing around the shop. She knew that Amy struggled from time to time - but they all did. Mr. Gold wasn't exactly kind when it came to rent prices.

Amy looked up as she saw her friend and neighbour Mary Margaret enter the store. "Hey Mary" Amy said with a smile. Amy looked around the store and then looked back at Mary with a smile "It's going well, even if business is a bit slow." Amy watched as Mary examined the items in her store.
Amy looked down at her smiling. Mary Margaret was her friend, neighbour and her son's teacher and was glad to get the chance to have a conversation with her. Amy knew that Mary Margaret loved the things in her store, even if she couldn't afford it, she didn't mind Amy liked getting visits from her friend. When business was slow, she was able to have a great conversation with her friends. "So how's it going with you" Amy said with that smile still glued to her face.

that anyone can change her life. The shop wasn't overly busy for a Saturday, but there were still a few people milling about. Mary Margaret didn't understand why people weren't tearing the door down of Amy's beautiful shop. There were some really unique things on display. Still, it was hard to compete with Mr. Gold when it came to remarkable items for purchase. She'd only set foot in his pawn shop when she absolutely had to - but he certainly had items in there that were out of the ordinary. Amy had always impressed the young teacher. She was a single mother of a happy young boy, and she could tell by how happy Nicholas was when she saw him at school that she was a great mother. There was a huge part of her that was jealous of the other woman. She had a family. Even if it was just the two of them…they had each other. Mary Margaret always appreciated the shop owner's insistence that she was family to them…but it wasn't the same as having a child of her own.
Amy acknowledged that business had been slow lately, and a gently frown formed on her face. "Well, I hope it picks up. I like your store much better than Gold's," Mary insisted with an emphatic nod. There definitely wasn't a lie or anything misleading about that comment. Given the option, she'd never bother with Gold. Unfortunately, he owned half the town, and Regina Mills owned the other half. The school teacher had always had a loving and forgiving heart…but even she had trouble finding redeeming qualities about the two. But, even she had to live inside the lines, and she did her best just to make sure not to cross paths with either one of them.
The smell of the incense hung inside her nose. It wasn't an unpleasant smell, and she'd gotten used to it after visiting Quazzi's a few times. Amy asked her how she was doing, and she nodded her head gently as replied. "I'm doing alright. Just out to pick up a groceries and I thought I would come in and say hello," Mary Margaret straightened up a little bit and stopped learning on the counter. "I am sorry I couldn't make it around to your place for dinner last night," she commented lightly. "I got stuck helping Ruby with inventory at the diner because she'd been neglecting it all week. That girl is too wild for her own good," she laughed gently, mostly joking. There might have been a touch of truth in her words, but the comment was meant in jest.
Ruby was Mary Margaret's best friend, but the two were pretty vastly different people. One was kind, if not a little reserved, and gave off the air of peace. The other was desperate to break out of the skin of a small town girl. Almost every day she expected to go into Granny's and hear that Ruby had run away. It had happened once or twice, but the young woman with an affinity for red always seemed to come back. In a selfish was, she was happy about that - because she had great love for her friend and liked having her around. And yet, if she ran away and never came back Mary Margaret would know that she had gotten her happy ending.

Amy was smiling at her friend Mary Margaret, "I hope so." Amy needed to stay confident for her son that she was going to be able to support them. Amy hadn't struggled so far, and her and her son were happy. Amy couldn't remember what happened to his father, but, for as long as she could remember it had just been the two of them.
Amy knelt down to sort the display case behind the counter "I'm glad to hear it, I love having you come by", Amy smiled as Mary Margaret apologised "It's perfectly alright. I was sure there was a reason why you weren't there." Amy continued to stack the display case, as she explained about Ruby. Amy and her son loved Mary Margaret and was glad she wasn't blowing her off on purpose. Amy stood up and smiled at her friend.

that anyone can change her life. Mary Margaret stood up a bit straighter and shifted her weight on her feet. She had a number of other errands to get through, but it seemed like Amy was happy for a bit of company so she didn't want to immediately say goodbye to her friend. It really was a wonder that her shop wasn't booming - but there were so many people that were loyal to Mr. Gold. Well, that or scared of him. She smiled gently as Amy accepted her vote of confidence and gave her a hopeful reply. Mary Margaret could tell by her face that she was still a little concerned, and she understood why. Having a child to take care of changed everything. Even though she was doing it alone, the school teacher was jealous of her. She had a family, and what a wonderful thing that must be. For better or worse.
"You two are going to be okay…better than okay," she commented in a very reassuring way. Mary wasn't really sure how she knew that - but she did. Amy was a fighter and she loved her son more than anything. Even if the shop did have it's troubles and shut down, she knew that the woman would find a way to provide for her son. But more than that, she didn't think it would ever come that.
Happily, her friend forgave her for not joining them for dinner the previous night. It wasn't like them not to forgive the other for things like that, but it only made Mary Margaret more grateful for their friendship each time. They were friends not in spite of anything, or out of any convenience. They understood that life sometimes got in the way, and so did responsibilities to people - and sometimes their responsibility to each other affected plans with other people. That was simply life, and she was grateful to have friends that understood that.
Of course, she was single without a child so she had much less responsibility than some of her friends. Her job really came in at #1, and even that was centered around helping kids grow up. One day she'd be able to have one of her own.
"Thank you for being understanding. I'm sure Ruby appreciates it, too," she grinned a little and shook her head. "I could make it up to you," she offered. "I could make dinner for you and Zachary on Saturday night. I don't have any wonderful family recipes I could share or anything, but I'm not a total dunce in the kitchen," Mary Margaret told her. It was lucky she'd known Zachary before he started his year in her classroom. Either way, it might still be a little weird that his mother and his teacher were friends.
